Great garden days

We've had some enormously hot days over the past week here in Northern California. While I haven't enjoyed the heat, my garden certainly has. I think this may be the best year ever I'll have with my all-in-pots garden. It's all in the compost.

The California poppies  are doing particularly well this year. Actually, there are many different varieties that fall under that generic heading. At this site you can find clickable names that will take you to photos of many of them. This coming week is California poppy week, by the way.

And speaking of poppies, here's a pretty good shot of Macha NightMare's poppy tattoos, at last Saturday's maypole dance.

I've been running around in circles over the last week, what with the pentacle ritual and the upcoming Pagan Festival at Berkeley's Civic Center Park.  Tomorrow I'll be part of the Besom Brigade all-witch drill team, and will be telling troll stories at the Druids' story-telling pavilion. My coven will be building the south altar, painting hearts on kids faces, and giving away these little ceramic hearts I made in pottery class.
